Yeovil's first ‘Care Community’ is bringing five-star hotel quality to the elderly care sector in a move that will set a new standard for the industry.
The luxury ‘Care Community’ will feature boutique interiors, room service, concierge service, fine dining, a hair and beauty salon and a chauffeur-driven Bentley on standby.
Residents can enjoy the independence and privacy of their own en-suite care studio whilst enjoying excellent standards of care and support and a five-star hotel quality of service.
This is the first Care Community to be developed by Yeovil-based The Care Home Group, a new business aiming to shake up the elderly care sector.
The group is currently acquiring former care homes in the Somerset region and transforming them into state of the art Care Communities. Yeovil Care Community, on Preston Road, is the first of these innovative schemes.
The Care Home Group CEO Sean Murray said he was passionate about setting a new benchmark for the delivery of quality care in the UK.
He said: “Our number one priority is to deliver the highest quality, truly personalised care for our residents, but in a first class hotel environment.
“These will not feel like traditional care homes; we’re providing leading edge luxury. This really is a first for the care industry and we are proud to be leading the way.
“We recognise that retirees today expect more from their later years and we’re offering them the independence and privacy of their own care studio home, secure in the knowledge that their personal care, laundry, meals and all the hassles of managing their own home, are taken care of by professional care and support staff.”
“We’re absolutely thrilled to be launching the business here in Yeovil and we’re looking forward to welcoming our first residents to our flagship Yeovil Care Community in July.”
In November 2015 the company purchased the former Latimer Lodge residential home and Tyndale nursing home on Preston Road. Both are now undergoing extensive refurbishment works with Latimer Lodge re-opening to residents in July.
Latimer Lodge at Yeovil Care Community will feature 13 luxury en-suite care studios, it will be shortly followed by the refurbishment and possible extension (subject to planning) of the adjacent Tyndale building, which will feature a further 24+ en-suite care studios.
Residents have the option of either renting their studio under a standard Tenancy Agreement or purchasing it under a 125-year lease for an up-front purchase price rather than paying the monthly rent. Prices start at £109,950.
When fully operational later in 2016, Yeovil Care Community will be a vibrant community of around 100 residents and staff sharing the premier care accommodation in Yeovil and its surrounding area.
All Care Communities will be fully registered and regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and will be aiming to become rated ‘Outstanding’ facilities.
Also on the 1.8 acre site is Coverdale Court sheltered housing accommodation, which is already home to 14+ residents.
